My Experiment With Adobe Illustrator

As you’ll notice, my blog is donning a new header. This was my feeble attempt at creating a banner for the first time.

I decided that just text for my banner didn’t look too visually appealing, so I opened up Adobe Illustrator and began to work on something. It took me about four days to come up with product you see above.

My first task was to create a background. I like color, but generally am attracted to the darker colors. I like green, but didn’t want something too dark. After about two days of trying to figure out how to fill a rectangle and apply a gradient, I decided on a multi-color background with a gradient.

The text was the easy part, but finding a font wasn’t so easy. Sans serif is usually my go-to  option, but I attempted to use the “outline text” feature and create my own. It didn’t work out too well.

The baseball and football are really just space fillers because I couldn’t design anything cooler that went along with my theme. I’m not a graphically inclined person, but I’d like to start working on my skills.

Please feel free to let me know what you think, and leave any tips if you have them. It would be much appreciated. Thanks!
